New Year, New Brand: 5 small brand changes with big impact

Did you make any New Year’s resolutions this year? It can be tempting to fall into the “new year, new me” trap – even for your business. If you’re feeling that you need a bit of a refresh this year there are a few small changes you can make that could have a massive impact on your brand. So rather than a full rebrand, you can do just a brand refresh to feel like you’re starting the year off with a brand new feel.

Here are five small changes you can make to your brand to refresh things without going through a full rebrand.

Revamp Your Logo

When most people think of a brand they think of the logo. It’s the first thing people see. A subtle tweak to your logo design can make a world of difference. Consider updating the color scheme, adjusting the font, or simplifying the overall design. You don’t have to abandon your current logo; it's about giving it a modern and relevant twist.

Refresh Your Color Palette

You’ve probably heard that certain colours can evoke certain emotions. Those emotions can affect how your customers interact with your brand overall. Could you consider introducing a new colour to the existing colour scheme or changing up existing colours to a different tone? Even a subtle shift can convey a renewed energy and attract the attention of your target audience. About a year ago, SongBird introduced pink to our existing colour scheme to brighten things up a bit.

Update Your Fonts

Font choices can make your brand look dated or modern as trends change. Explore new fonts or even tweak the spacing and size of your existing font. Just make sure that whatever changes you make are easy to read and align with your brand’s personality.

Refine Your Messaging

Your brand's voice is an integral part of its identity. Take a fresh look at your messaging across various platforms – from your website and social media to marketing materials. Ensure consistency in tone and messaging. We always like to revisit messaging to make sure that the story we are telling is still relevant to the target audience. Sometimes your business shifts over time as well and you find you have introduced a more witty tone or even have become more conservative depending on your audience and industry.

Optimize Your Website

Your website is often the first interaction customers have with your brand. A user-friendly, visually appealing website is key to making a positive impression. While it can be hard to change up the layout and template, you can do small things like update images and written content to make sure it reflects your current brand identity. You could even consider adding customer testimonials or case studies if you don’t already have them to showcase the positive experiences others have had with your brand.

Updating your brand doesn’t require undergoing a full rebrand. Try some of these small changes to make things seem refreshed as we head deeper into 2024. It can feel more proactive and might even kick start some fresh growth in the business.
