Free tools to use in your marketing

Whether you’re an entrepreneur, a new marketing grad, or a content creator, having the right tools can really help you maximize your marketing efforts - even if you’re on a budget.

Sometimes, that budget, especially when you’re just starting out, is zero. And that’s okay.

We’ve compiled a list of free* marketing tools to use, each addressing a different need!

*While all of these are free tools or have free options, you can also select paid plans for more expanded features, if you decide to do so later.

For content creation

Canva

Canva is a free graphic design tool that allows you to create everything from social media posts to flyers, brochures, and more. I personally love Canva for content creation because it gives you a ton of options to create content - you get a selection of fonts, videos, images, and graphics, templates and more - even with the free version!

Check out all of the incredible options you get with the free plan here.

Unsplash

Canva has lots of royalty free images but in case you ever need even more images to use, there’s Unsplash. It’s important that you only use images that you have permission to use and royalty-free images give you the flexibility you will need to create content.

For scheduling

If you aren’t scheduling your content, you should be! Scheduling your content can help you save time and it can also help keep you on track when it comes to posting your content on time so it’s a great tool to have at your disposal. Many scheduling platforms like Hootsuite and Later have a variety of options that offer free trials (as well as low cost options).

While trying one of these platforms is certainly an option, you can also use platform specific features to schedule your posts for free. Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and even YouTube enable users to schedule posts.*

*Click each platform to learn more about scheduling for each platform!

For email automation

Mailchimp

Mailchimp’s free option includes email, subject, line, helper,  free email templates, and more! If you’re looking to automate your email newsletters and more, this is a great tool to utilize.

For monitoring your business and your competitors, industry news, and more

Google Alerts

Google Alerts is a free tool that allows you to key in specific keywords such as your business name or your name, your competitors names, or industry keywords. When you select these keywords and sign up for alerts Google will email you when there is new content such as news articles that mention your selected keywords. This is a great way to monitor what people are saying about your business, your competitors are important and relevant news.

Another helpful tool is Feeder which also allows you to customize your news feed.

These are just a handful of helpful tools to help you take your marketing to the next level but there are tons of free tools out there - don’t be afraid to play around with them to see what fits your needs best!
